District Initiatives
The following initiatives have been undertaken across the district to strengthen the implementation of Solid Waste Management (SWM):
- IEC activities conducted regularly to create awareness on source segregation, waste reduction, and scientific waste
- Official orders, guidelines, and awareness materials circulated in both Bengali and
- Sensitization programmes organized for all ULBs and
- Dedicated Special Cell established for monitoring and
- Capacity-building and training programmes conducted for officials, sanitation workers, SHGs, and stakeholders.
- Timely submission of short- term and fortnightly
- Regular field visits to Blocks, ULBs, RLBs, and market areas to promote source
- Awareness and enforcement of penalty provisions for illegal
- Cleaning operations and legacy dumpsite remediation are ongoing across all ULBs and
- Continuous monitoring to ensure effective implementation of SWM
