District Initiatives

The following initiatives have been undertaken across the district to strengthen the implementation of Solid Waste Management (SWM):

 

  • IEC activities conducted regularly to create awareness on source segregation, waste reduction, and scientific waste

 

  • Official orders, guidelines, and awareness materials circulated in both Bengali and

 

  • Sensitization programmes organized for all ULBs and

 

  • Dedicated Special Cell established for monitoring and

 

  • Capacity-building and training programmes conducted for officials, sanitation workers, SHGs, and stakeholders.

 

  • Timely submission of short- term and fortnightly

 

  • Regular field visits to Blocks, ULBs, RLBs, and market areas to promote source

 

  • Awareness and enforcement of penalty provisions for illegal

 

  • Cleaning operations and legacy dumpsite remediation are ongoing across all ULBs and

 

  • Continuous monitoring to ensure effective implementation of SWM

Special Cleanliness Drive and Tree Plantation Program on the Occasion of Celebrating 80th Independence Day

On the Occasion of celebrating 80th Independence Day, special cleanliness drive and tree plantation program was held at the Office premises of the District Magistrate & Collector, Sepahijala under the supervision of the District Magistrate & Collector. Along with District Magistrate, Addl District Magistrate & Collector and all other officers and staffs of the Office took part in that program.

Jampuijala RD Block under Sepahijala District, has established a remarkable achievement in the field of Solid Waste Management. Just 6 months the block has sold 2405 kg plastic waste against Rs. 38,266.

An orientation workshop on the implementation of the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules, 2026

An orientation workshop on the implementation of the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules, 2026 was held today at Sachin Dev Barman Kala Kshetra (Multipurpose Hall), Bishramganj, Sepahijala District. The workshop was attended by officials and elected representatives of all Local Bodies of the district. The programme was conducted in the presence of the Sabhadhipati, Zilla Parishad, the ADM & Collector (PP), the DPO & Member Secretary, DWSMC, Sepahijala District, and other concerned officials. The workshop focused on the provisions of the SWM Rules, 2026, their effective implementation at the field level, institutional responsibilities, monitoring mechanisms, and strategies for strengthening solid waste management systems across the district.

The Occasion of the World Environment Day-2026

On the Occasion of the World Environment Day-2026, tree plantation program was organised at the Office of the District Magistrate & Collector, Sepahijala. Tree was planted by the Additional District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate(PP) & the Member Secretary-DWSMC (OC Development).
